Why Champion Mom? What is Champion Mom?
Tuesday May 17, 2016
Here at Champion Carpet Cleaning & Upholstery, we understand the importance of the family dynamic. Our work with residential cleaning allows us to see first hand the benefits and challenges of modern day parenting. We established our Champion Mom concept to honor those families who are tackling each day like they own it even though their calendars are full, their vehicles are loaded down, and their lives are filled to the brim.
Champion Mom was inspired by the fact that I both run a business and a household. Champion has 14 employees (or as I like to call them, tall children) and there are comparisons between the work that I do and the household that I help maintain. I'm a mother of three beautiful, energetic, inspiring children - and that doesn't even take our 2 dogs, 2 hamsters, a crab, and one very messy husband into consideration!
Being a Champion Mom means that at the end of each day you take the time to give yourself grace and gratitude. Be the Champion of your day no matter what!
Does this day sound familiar to you?
7 AM - You've had to mop the floor no less than 3 separate times because one kiddo vomited up his mashed potatoes, your dog drug in mud from the backyard, and your spouse spilled his protein shake - all during breakfast!
8 AM - You've probably had to change your clothes at least 2 times already. Between the protein shake and your youngest wiping his snot onto your clean blouse, your outfit for the day is toast.
9 AM - Now you are running late to a meeting because the lady in front of you slammed on her brakes, making you spill coffee all over the interior of your car.
1 PM - You've been productively moving along with your day but you remember that you forgot to bring in your leftovers from lunch and they are stinking up your car!
5 PM - You get home with only half your list completed for the day. This means you are going to have to stay up and keep working after you put the kids to bed.
8 PM - Now to finish your never ending list of "ToDo's"
However, you are a Champion Mom! Instead of letting that get you down, take time to reflect on your day. Jot down all the awesome things that happened today, even if it was getting the laundry caught up or not being late for soccer practice.
Thank goodness your family is all healthy and you got to sit down with them all and enjoy a meal today. Forget the rest. It's not in your Champion Mom book of accomplishments! There is enough negativity in the world today. We Champion Moms have to remember to appreciate, applaud and encourage one another. Tally the good, not the bad.
Three Champion Mom Tips:
- Laugh a lot. It's wonderfully healthy for you and will do wonders for your mood. Whatever makes you chuckle, surround yourself with those things. The world could use all the laughter it can get. (Plus, they say it takes more muscles to frown than to smile so let's avoid any more wrinkles, right?)
- Don't cry over spilled milk. Messes are going to happen. Accidents are going to throw you off your game. It can be easy to get overwhelmed with the fixing and the cleaning. However, you don't have to take that whole burden. Champion will clean it! We specialize in helping families create a warm, clean, healthy atmosphere - a place one can call home.
- Give your self and those around you grace! Everyone you see is struggling with something. Each of us has our own battles and burdens to bear. Give yourself permission to go a little easier on you. You don't need a drill sergeant to get through the day so stop treating yourself as a recruit. Give others the benefit of the doubt before you rush to judge or criticize. None of us are making it out of this alive so we might as well be compassionate and kind to one another.
As parents, we don't have to agree with everything that someone else is doing. However, if we are going to be a part of making this world a better place - it's time to stop taking everything so seriously.
Get help. Be supportive. Laugh as much as you can. Spread kindness and joy.
That's really what it means to be a Champion Mom.
