The life of a Champion Mom is full of many happy moments, but can also be extremely busy. Trying to find time for you can seem daunting. What if I told you that by taking time to relax and self-reflect you may actually create more time for yourself? Sounds contradictory, doesn’t it? Contrary to popular belief, setting aside time to do these self-focused activities will result in increasing your productivity.

Let’s start by explaining what it means to reflect. Self-reflection is defined as meditation or serious thought about one’s character, actions, and motives. It is a time meant to look over your circumstances and check in with yourself. Putting this practice into place on a regular basis will encourage and assist you with direction – where do you want to go, what are your goals, and how to best prioritize your life.

Ask yourself great questions. Here are a few examples of self-reflection questions posted on Inc.com.  When your priorities are in order, your everyday life is better organized. Self-reflection also allows a set amount time to check in with yourself emotionally and mentally. If you’re having a hard day, identifying what might be the cause allows you to then try to find a solution to the problem. It can also be a great way to remind you of all the positive things you have going on and refocus on that instead. Knowing where you are at personally is important, because your mental and emotional state greatly impact your overall well-being and ability to accomplish daily tasks.

Now, relaxation… who has time for that? How can you find time between, working, caring for the kids, keeping up with the house, running errands, ect. The list can be extensive. However, there are ways to sneak in a little R&R throughout your typical day. When you take a shower, spend a couple extra minutes just soaking in the warmth. Even if you’re only able to get in a few uninterrupted moments, make the most of it! During your daily commute, listen to calming music or an audio book. Take five minutes in your day to meditate. Be still, close your eyes, breathe slowly, and listen to calm instrumental music. Those five minutes will be like a mini vacation! There are many ways to find time to add relaxation into your day; you just have to look for it. When you make time to allow your mind and body to recover from the busy-ness of life, you’re able to stay active longer and think more clearly which leads to a more productive you.

You work hard to be the Champion Mom for you family. Take time for yourself, so that you can continue to be the best version of you!
