Commercial Cleaning: The New Normal for Keeping Your Office Safe from COVID-19

We have heard a lot in recent weeks and months about “the new normal” that we will have to adapt to in the wake of COVID-19. This disease does not seem like it will go away anytime soon and offices cannot just wait. Businesses have to be proactive in order to ensure that their building is cleaned properly to keep employees and customers from being exposed to the virus.

Here are a few steps that offices should take to help combat COVID-19 at work:

1. Hire professional commercial cleaners — This is not a matter of just dusting, vacuuming, and emptying the trash. In order to disinfect your office, you are going to need to employ professional cleaners who know what methods to use to safely clean your building. These cleaners should be able to treat everything from the carpets to the furniture and fixtures so that they are safe.

2. Revamp your office fixtures — COVID-19 can be spread through contact with surfaces. So, one thing that you can do is to eliminate some basic surfaces that your employees and customers have to touch. This would mean removing traditional doors with knobs and replace them with swinging doors that can be opened with a foot or elbow instead of the hand. Also, install motion sensors so that people don’t have to touch the light fixtures when they walk into a room. Finally, you can also install “no-touch” fixtures in your restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and soap dispensers.

3. Install Sanitizer Dispensers — Besides masks and social distancing, one of the best ways to control the spread of COVID-19 is with hand washing and sanitizing. To this end, it is important that every entrance to your office should have a hand sanitizer dispenser. Additionally, more dispensers should be spread around your building to help with cleaning up as needed.
