Champion Mom: Backyard Transformations to Survive Summer
Sunday June 14, 2020
Summer is coming and it seems like it already arrived a few months ago. While the weather has steadily improved and the temperatures are rising, the kids have already been home for some time thanks to the quarantine/lockdown that the country is under.
So, with the actual summer nearing, chances are you might be looking for opportunities to change things up to keep boredom and fatigue from settling in.
Here are ways to improve your backyard to transform your home to survive the summer:
- Backyard Entertainment — One of the best suggestions we can make for backyard entertainment for you and the little ones would be to get a pool. No, not invest in a huge, in-ground pool that costs a lot and takes a lot of maintenance. There are plenty of mid-size above ground pools available that can help keep you cool and relaxed this summer. And, if you can’t get one of those, break out the Slip ‘N Slide or water sprinkler. (Water balloon fights can be a lot of fun, too!)
- Backyard Summer Camp — Most summer camps are probably being put on hold this year. But if you want to create a summer camp in your backyard, it’s easy to do. One thing that you are going to need is a tent. Kids love the idea of camping out and what could be safer than doing it in your own backyard! If you have a fire feature such as a fire pit, you can also give them the campfire atmosphere and roast s’mores over the fire. Finally, make it educational and add a telescope to your backyard so the kids can check out the stars on those clear nights.
- Backyard as a Getaway Area — Lastly, it’s also important to have your backyard as a getaway area for you. One way to do this is to make your porch or patio as comfortable as possible. Get some nice comfy patio furniture with thick cushions that are perfect for lounging. If you really want to turn your backyard into a relaxation oasis, then you might want to consider a major upgrade such as a backyard kitchen or bar. This is perfect for grilling out even if you can’t invite all of the friends and neighbors over to join you.
Just because you are stuck at home this summer doesn’t mean you can’t liven things up with a backyard transformation. By doing this, you can survive the doldrums of staying at home.
